- Memoir and translations of various family papers (168pp ts) recording the experiences of a German-Jewish family before and during the Second World War, comprising: account of his childhood in 1930s Amsterdam, where his parents had moved to from Hamburg at the time of the Nazi seizure of power, life in the city following the German occupation of Holland in May 1940, the family's arrest and removal to the Westerbork camp in June 1943 from where they were sent to the concentration camp at Bergen-Belsen in February 1944, journey on the last train to leave Belsen in April 1945, liberation and return to Holland (from where he went to England shortly after the end of the war); his mother's account of the family's last months in Belsen, during which her husband and eldest son died; his brother's diary for February 1940 - June 1941, recording events in Amsterdam and Holland generally during this period (he was arrested in June and died in Mauthausen camp); various family correspondence, mainly from the war years; and part of his grandmother's diary covering the years 1921 - 1943 when she lived in Hamburg and then Amsterdam (the diary ends shortly before her deportation in May 1943; she died in the Sobibor camp in July of that year).
