- Substantial collection of papers (mostly in the German language) covering his life and career as a German-Jewish lawyer, comprising: his personal diary for the period 1929 - 1942; published and unpublished autobiographical writings concerning his early life, training and practice as a lawyer during the Weimar Republic, escape from Nazi Germany in 1933 and exile in Belgium and France before emigrating to the United States of America during the Second World War and returning to Europe in 1950; and a large number of personal documents, magazine articles and other writings on the situation in Germany during the Weimar Republic and the Third Reich with particular reference to the Jewish population and antisemitism, the issue of postwar restitution by the German government to the survivors of Nazi genocide, and other legal and political writings of a more general nature; also some family papers relating to his mother who was deported to (and died in) Gurs concentration camp in France.
