- Substantial collection of letters (circa 700pp, ms/ts) written by an RAF aircraftman to his family between October 1945 - April 1948, covering his training at RAF Deenethorpe and RAF Cranwell, and his subsequent postings to Unit Signals at RAF Headquarters in Cairo and then to Palestine as an announcer with the Forces Broadcasting Service in Jerusalem and Haifa, containing many intelligent and forceful comments on the Arab-Jewish conflict in Palestine, the administration of the British mandate, the treatment of Jewish immigrants by the authorities and the attitudes of British troops towards the Jewish settlers, media reporting of terrorist activity in the country, and his intense dislike of many aspects of service life; together with other papers relating to his RAF service and to the FBS in Palestine, and a large collection of photographs taken in the Middle East and on Cyprus.
