- Memoir (33pp ts), written in 1976, of her experiences in the German-occupied Netherlands during the Second World War, living in The Hague with other members of her Dutch-Jewish family in circumstances of increasing restrictions and persecution, the arrest and internment of other family members in the Westerbork camp before her own arrest in September 1942, spending a lengthy period in prison in The Hague prior to internment in Westerbork where she worked in the main administration building and was able to avoid inclusion in onward transports to Poland, hearing of her father's death in the Amersfoort camp as a result of severe beating (her mother was transported from Westerbork to `the East' shortly afterwards), transfer to the camp at Vught in February 1943 before being included in a transport to Auschwitz (via Westerbork) later in the same year, her accommodation in the older part of the camp, describing the daily routine in some detail, her belief that she would survive against all the odds, including subjection to the sterilisation experiments conducted by camp doctor Carl Clauberg, followed by further `medical' experiments carried out by Clauberg's assistant Dr Johannes Goebel, her subsequent inclusion in a `herb kommando' detailed to gather various herbs from the camp surroundings for use in military medicine, the illicit bartering with local Poles which this facilitated, Allied bombing raids on the camp area in late 1944 (targeting the nearby industrial installations), the evacuation of Auschwitz in January 1945 and her temporary confinement in the camps at Malchow and Ravensbrück until April when the prisoners were force marched westwards until they reached American lines, and her eventual return to the Netherlands [Note: the author (as Rosaline de Leon) gave evidence preparatory to the trial of Carl Clauberg in the mid-1950s].
