- Photocopy of an account (185pp ts, written in the third person) concerning his experiences as an Austrian Jew before and during the Second World War, describing his abortive attempt at a clandestine crossing into Belgium from Germany in December 1938 and successful crossing shortly afterwards, life as a refugee in Brussels and his work assisting in the setting-up and administration of a hostel for fellow-refugees at Marneffe, the effects there of the outbreak of war in September 1939 and of the German invasion of Belgium in April 1940, consequent evacuation of the hostel and flight into France, evading hostile civilians and the advancing German Army to return to occupied Brussels, conditions in the city (particularly as they affected Jewish refugees), obtaining work in a country school at Bassines in the summer of 1942 which functioned as a refuge for Jews evading detection by the Germans, hurried departure following a police raid on the school and sheltering with acquaintances in Liege, additional hardships imposed by the increasing scarcity of basic commodities, the effects of the Allied advance through Belgium in late 1944, the German evacuation of Liege and its liberation by US troops; also photocopies of various documents and photographs relating to his experiences.
