- Papers documenting the life and career of Greta (Grete) Wilens, a Jewish composer and businesswoman who was forced to emigrate from Germany to England in 1933, comprising: correspondence from family and friends (mainly 1930s and postwar), and a series of letters of appreciation to her from evacuee children for whom she had performed a piano recital in 1941; legal correspondence and other official records (mainly 1950s) concerning her claim for compensation from the German government arising from the persecution of her family by the Nazi regime and specifically the loss of her father's business as a result of anti-Jewish boycotts; documents concerning her employment in the music trade in Berlin in the late 1920s; scores of some of her compositions, notably the 'Blue Brocade Gavotte' and 'The Albatross', which enjoyed considerable success in the 1980s; two photograph albums and a number of loose photographs, and other miscellaneous items.
