- Copy of an English translation (58pp ts) of an account of her experiences during the Second World War, written in 1947 in the form of an extended letter to her relations, concerning the German occupation of Kartuzy (Karthaus), Poland, in September 1939 and the ensuing measures taken against the Jewish inhabitants, Else Pintus' escape to Danzig shortly afterwards and her precarious existence there as a carer for elderly people, the constant threat of arrest and confinement in the nearby concentration camp at Stutthof (from where accounts of brutality and death reached the population of Danzig), her flight from the city in late 1942 to avoid deportation, concealment in the home of friends until the arrival of the Soviet Army in March 1945, her mixed fortunes in the aftermath of war in Soviet-occupied Poland, and attempts to make contact with surviving family members.
