Scope and content:: Good, illustrated memoir (112pp ts) of her childhood and schooling in Berlin during the 1930s and the effects on her family of Nazi anti-Jewish policies, her arrival in Britain with the first 'Kindertransport' in December 1938 and reception at the Dovercourt camp near Harwich, brief placement with a family in Hanwell, Middlesex, and then with relations in Edgware until April 1939 when she moved to Wolverhampton, more successful integration into a family there and attendance at Wolverhampton Girls' High School (with observations on the differences between her education there and in Berlin, where she had attended a school for Jewish children), further education and professional training in Chesterfield from August 1940 and contacts there with the Refugee Children's Movement (of whom she is critical), employment with the Fire Guard Service in Nottingham from August 1943, news of her family (her brother served in SOE and was captured by the Germans, her parents perished en route to or at Minsk), and her postwar enrolment as a full-time student at Nottingham University.
