- 3 ms letters (13pp), with ts transcription (7pp), written home to a penpal, the daughter of a family friend, Millie Schlofsky, and her younger siblings, including baby sister Rita, while serving as a Signaller with the 38th (Jewish) Battalion Royal Fusiliers (from June 1918 with 31st Brigade, 10th Division until September 1918, then the Australian and New Zealand Mounted Division) in Egypt and Palestine, January 1918 - March 1919, briefly describing the end of the war and his wait for demobilisation, but of a mainly romantic nature. Millie and Robert were married 15 August 1920. Also held with the collection are 2 ms love poems (2pp); printed booklets entitled 'Prayers for Jewish Soldiers and Sailors on Active Service' (34pp) and 'Prayer Book for Jewish Sailors and Soldiers' (71pp) from the First World War; and a printed booklet 'Readings from the Holy Scriptures for Jewish Members of the Armed Forces of the United States' (513pp) dated 1942.
