- Documents (in German and English) concerning Auguste Weiss, a German-Jewish refugee who emigrated to England in 1939, including: German passport issued to her in Mannheim in April 1939; private and official correspondence concerning her emigration to the UK and her placement as a domestic help in London and Romford; correspondence etc concerning her application for a visa to the USA during the Second World War; 5 items of correspondence dated between 1940 - 1944 from her parents Sigmund and Emma Weiss, who were held in the French internment camps at Gurs and Resebedou (Haute Garonne), together with a postwar enquiry about their fate sent to the International Tracing Service of the Red Cross at Arolsen; postwar correspondence concerning her application for British naturalisation and other matters; and miscellaneous postwar correspondence, much of it regarding the legal estate of the family in Germany.
