- Papers concerning the Austrian-Jewish printer Adolf Blond, comprising: Declaration of Austrian Citizenship, dated 1919 (1p); copy of a certificate of change of surname from Koffler to Blond, dated 1929 (1p); official extract from his birth certificate (1p); three letters (12pp ms) dated 1938, written to his family during his imprisonment in Dachau concentration camp; one letter (3pp ms) dated 1939, from Buchenwald concentration camp, and his certificate of discharge from that camp; four letters (10pp ms) dated 1939, written from Vienna to his family in London; and documents pertaining to his application for an emigration visa in 1938 - 1939, including a list of the effects he wanted to take with him (8pp ts/ms), bill for shipment costs, correspondence (4pp ts) with the British Passport Control Office in Vienna, letter of confirmation (1p) of his imprisonment in Nazi camps from the Labour and Socialist International in Brussels, and a letter dated 1940 (1p) from the British Ministry of Labour and National Service informing Blond that his name has been put on the 'Central Register of Aliens with Special Qualifications'; also an account of Buchenwald (11pp ts, in German), presumably written by Blond after his release.
