- Ms daily diary (1942, 366pp), Recounting being stationed in Barrow-in-Furness, Lancashire (Now Cumbria) since May 1941, working at Furness Abbey railway station, some descriptions of duties but mainly of leisure time, details of love for his fiancée (later wife), Ina, who was a porter on the railway station, fear of being 'caught' together by his roommate, books read, films, lectures, exhibitions and shows seen with critiques, philosophical and artistic discussions, crashing bike in blackout (January 1942), weather, religion (he was Jewish and Ina Christian), home leave, life on the home front, buying a wedding ring (February 1942), having a tooth removed, marriage (March 1942), his mother's disapproval, newly married life, on leave at home in Manchester (May 1942). Also with ms letters, air mail letter cards and airgraphs written to his wife from Salford, Manchester (February 1942), then with 'D' Company, 4th Battalion, Royal Engineers, No 1 GBD Doune, Perthshire, from 'Somewhere at sea' (November 1942), in North Africa, moving to 'C' Section, 991 Docks Operating Company (January – June 1943), 991st DOC RE moving to Middle East Force (MEF) (June – July 1943), and then with Eighth Army in Sicily (July – September 1943), and Italy (November 1943 - January 1945), during which time he worked on detachment to HQ No 1 Docks Group, RE, CMF, Italy (November 1943 – January 1945) when the unit was redesignated HQ No 1 Port Operating Group (January 1945 – August 1945), home leave in London (October 1945), the Dock Supts Office, c/o HQ Movements, Venice, Italy (October 1945 – November 1945), Army School of Education (November – December 1945), and then back in Venice until his demob. Together with: 128 ms letters and airgraphs (c.260pp) written by Ina to her husband (December 1942 – November 1945); four letters written by a friend, LAC Richard Pedder, H Section, 313 STC, RAF (September 1942 – June 1945); Cohen's Soldier's Release Book; a signed Christmas Menu for 1015 Port Operating Company, RE; pastel sketches (of Sid?); and a ms News sheet (25 November (1944?)).
