Scope and content:: Two ring-bound volumes containing a photocopy of Marianne Rubens-Lam's original diary (written in Dutch), kept intermittently during July 1942 - May 1943, together with a typed transcription and translation into English of the diary and associated documents (56pp); the writer lived in Amsterdam with her husband during the German occupation of the Netherlands, and the diary was started on the day after her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter were taken away to the transit camp at Westerbork (they were later killed in Auschwitz-Birkenau camp) - it records her concern for her absent family in the form of letters to them, also the arrest and disappearance of many of the Jewish families around them in Amsterdam, concluding with her own arrest and that of her husband (both perished shortly afterwards at Sobibor); also included are associated family letters and documents, including several last messages written by those who died in the camps, and a few photographs.
