- This collection comprises a typescript of a broadcast titled 'Art in the home' (1925) and a further typescript titled 'Art in the home through the Picture Lending Institution' (1926) by Arthur Segal, as well as a typescript titled 'Children paintings' by Marianne Segal, a notice which accompanied an exhibition of children's paintings at the Segal Painting School (n.d.), and a letter (in German) about contemporary architecture to Professor Segal from O. Syal.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Arthur Segal was born in Germany in 1875 to Jewish parents. His work developed from early Post-Impressionist paintings to an idiosyncratic form of Cubism and in the 1920's he started an amazing series of prismatic images in overwhelming colours. He fled from Nazi persecution and settled in London where he opened the Arthur Segal Painting School. He was also a supporter of the Picture Lending Scheme. Segal died in 1944
