- Includes correspondence and other records relating to Thomas Mann and the Thomas Mann Gesellschaft (mostly transcripts); correspondence between Ida Herz and various TM scholars; a copy of the first page of a Gestapo report on Ida Herz from 1937; unpublished proofs of Mann's essay "Zur Judische Frage", 1921; obituaries and other commemorative articles on TM, and drafts and copies of articles on TM by various scholars.

- Ida Herz was a bookseller from Nuremberg, who became a friend of Thomas Mann in 1924 and was asked by him in 1925 to organise his library in Munich. She was an avid collector of material about Mann and amassed over 3000 newspaper articles about Mann from over 20 countries. Herz was forced to flee Germany in 1935. She lived in London for the rest of her life. She deposited her correspondence with Mann and her Mann collection with the Thomas Mann archive in Zürich in 1960.
