- Scope and content:
- The Local History Collection is a large collection comprising material on the Brent area dating from the early 19th to the early 21st centuries. The collection also incorporates material on Wembley and Willesden, which were merged when Brent became a London borough in 1965. The communities represented in this collection reflect the fact that Brent is the most ethnically and culturally diverse borough in London.The collection is organised into 16 sub-fonds:LHC/1 Local History Pamphlet Boxes contains reports, pamphlets, publicity material, timetables and unpublished histories of the area. LHC/1/CEM contains guides to Willesden and Brent cemeteries, including Willesden United Synagogue Cemetery. LHC/1/COM/7 includes material on Jewish, Latvian, Ukrainian, Arab and LGBTQ+; LHC/1/REL includes material relating to different religions, religious buildings and religious institutions, including Anglican, Baptist, Congregational, Hindu, Jewish, Methodist, Muslim, Presbyterian and Sikh.
