- Archival history:
- The archival records of the town of Wyrzysk were included in the independent State Archives in Bydgoszcz that was established in 1947. The previous archival history of this collection is unknown: it may have been stored in the Bydgoszcz archives department, which was established in 1906 on the order of the Prussian authorities, and from 1923 was the seat of the State Archives in Poznań.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Wyrzysk was mentioned as a town in the 15th century. It was incorporated into Prussia from 1772, and later was owned by various noble families. It was sold to the Prussian King Frederick II in 1773. The first attempt to grant it town rights was unsuccessful; the process of granting of town rights took place from 1744 to 1773. In the years 1818-1875 the town was the seat of Wyrzysk County. It was part of Poznań province until 1938, then part of Pomorskie province until 1939; it has been part of Bydgoszcz province since 1945.
