Due to the fact that until 1883 Jewish craftsmen did not have access to industrial associations in the cities of Galicia, Jewish-related were found only for the 1880s-1890s, with a significant number of references to Jewish craftsmen and journeymen in the 1900s. Tin smithing was one of the most popular professions among Kraków Jews in the last years of the Galician era, as well as in the interwar period. The Jewish-related records are primarily lists of foremen and journeymen, guild correspondence, minutes of guild authority meetings in which Jews took part. This collection is useful for the study of the occupational structure of Kraków Jews, especially craftsmanship. The records of Jewish foremen can also be used for genealogical research. Some of the records (1879-1900, 1910-1944) remain unprocessed (reference numbers 29/129 / 44-47).

- From the 16th century records of the guild of tinsmiths in Kraków were kept in the archives of the Kraków guild while those of the guild in Kleparz were kept separately in the archives of the Kazimierz guild (in the house of one of the guild elders). Some of the records went to the Kraków and Kleparz magistrates respectively. In the 19th century, the guild records were stored in the Archives of the Free City of Kraków (the so-called Senate Archives). Most of the records produced by the guilds in the 19th century were transferred in the years 1900-1901 by the guild elders (foremen) to the Archives of Historical Records of the City of Kraków. Some of them were dispersed, for example being handed over to the families of deceased guild members. The next large transfers to the National Archives in Kraków took place in 1999 and 2010. Accounting records from the years 1898-1903 (ref. no. number Kr 8225) were transferred to the storage site in Spytkowice.

The year 1666, when King Jan Kazimierz Vasa approved the guild statute, is considered to be the date of the establishment of the guild, i.e., a joint professional corporation of tinsmiths in Kraków and in Kleparz (an independent town until the end of the 18th century). The statutes for the guild of tinsmiths in Kraków were confirmed by successive kings, including in 1676, 1697 and 1735.
Legislative power in the guild was exercised by the general assembly, which passed guild statutes and regulations, and the executive power was held by the guild elders in the person of foremen (guild masters). Lower in the hierarchy were journeymen and apprentices who gained their professional qualifications by training in their craft. The main task of the guild was to protect the legal, economic and material interests of its members. It also performed military, religious and charitable functions related to the city's defence. The guilds were supervised by the city councils of Kraków and Kleparz.
Until 1859, the guild had the exclusive right to grant the right to conduct craft activity. Formally Jews were forbidden to enter the guild until 1883. As a result of the enactment of the Austrian Industrial Act in 1883, the guild was transformed into an industrial association (the Association of Kraków Metal Workers). From that time on, everyone engaged in craft (industrial) activity, including Jews, was obliged to join the association after fulfilling the relevant duties.
