- Registers of births, marriages and deaths of the Jewish Religious Community of Zaręby Kościelne district contain such information as: names of the registered person, age or date of birth, place of birth, parents' names, mother's maiden name; date of marriage, date and place of death, place of residence, marital status. Some registers were damaged and require conservation.

The Jewish community in Zaręby Kościelne was probably established in the mid-seventeenth century. 1,254 people belonged to it in 1921 (77% of the town’s population).
In the Kingdom of Poland, separate vital record registers were kept for each religion, which also served as marital status records. Each civil status file was recorded in two registers - one copy remained in place (the original), and the other was transferred to the archive of the county mortgage court (duplicate). Registers of civil divorces, marriage announcements, and marriage acts were kept by the town mayors or burgermeisters. A civil registrar of non-Christian denominations was designated to register the civil status records of the Jewish population.
