- Archival history:
- The records of the town of Widuchów were transferred to the Szczecin Archives in 1880, 1934 and 1939. The fate of the collection during World War II is unknown.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The first mention of Widuchów comes from 1159. During the 13th century, the settlement began holding markets. However, in 1283, prince Bogusław IV rescinded market rights from Widuchowa in favour of Gryfino, and it was not until 1347 that Duke Barnim III raised Widuchowa to the rank of a town. The new centre, however, was in private hands: Burchard von Belevanz, families: von Steinwehr, von Trampe and von Hohenstein. The town council (mentioned in a document from 1347) was in charge of the town, although the final vote belonged to the owners. After the division of Pomerania in 1295, Widuchowa became part of the Duchy of Szczecin. Widuchowa came under Swedish rule as a result of the subsequent division of Pomerania between Sweden and Brandenburg (1653). It only became a part of the Brandenburg Prussian state after 1679.
