According to the 1931/1932 school report out of 318 students of the Adam Mickiewicz Secondary School in Krakow as many as 113 were Jews. Most of them were the children of merchants and trade entrepreneurs as well as transport officials. Students were taught the Mosaic religion, which was taught in the 1930s by Dr. Samuel Schmelkes. In individual years, in male classes from 30-60% were Jewish students, in female classes up to 5% were Jewish students. Most of the Jewish-related records date from the 1920s and 1930s, mostly school matriculation examination certificates and examination reports. Due to the international contacts of the school, a small proportion of Jewish graduates came from Czechoslovakia and Switzerland.

- Archival history:
- The archives of the Adam Mickiewicz secondary school were stored in the school building from 1902, however, due to the fact that the school was relocated, some of the records were lost. From 1932, the school took over the records of the Queen Wanda State Women's Secondary School in Krakow (merging to become the Secondary School no. VII). In 1952, the records of the school were transferred to the State Archives in Krakow. Printed records have been made available online by the Provincial Pedagogical Library in Krakow.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- In 1902, the Adam Mickiewicz secondary school, one of the oldest secondary schools in Krakow, was founded as a branch of the St. Jacek State Secondary School in Krakow at 10 Sebastian Street. From 1919 it existed as an independent educational institution, i.e. the VII State Real Gymnasium. Then the school headquarters were relocated to 46-48 Starowiślna Street. Mikołaj Mazanowski became the first head and Ryszard Goetel the second. From 1925 it was the Adam Mickiewicz secondary school. The school had a well-stocked library. As a result of the reform of minister Jędrzejewicz, a secondary school for girls was opened in 1932/1933. Since 1967 it has been the VI Secondary School at 7 Wąska Street in Kazimierz.
