Jews from Krakow predominated among the clients of the notary public Józef Nonast. Most of the Jewish-related records are bills of exchange protests, notes, receipts, real estate purchase and sale agreements, and cessions of receivables. A significant part of notarial files are inventories of Jewish property. The deeds are entered in registers in tables that list, in turn, the deed number, date, content and information regarding the stamp fee.

- Archival history:
- The records of the notary public Józef Nonast were initially stored in his notary office in Krakow, and then in the interwar period in the archives of the notary chamber. These records were taken over by the State Archives in Krakow after World War II.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Józef Nonast (died 1862) ran a notary's office on Krakow Main Square in the years 1834-1856. His activity was based on the French notary act of 1803 together with the decree on the notary deed of 1809, according to which notaries had the status of public officials (record secretaries). They were in force in Krakow until 1859. Formally, a new law on notarial law was introduced in Galicia in 1855. The notary was involved in the preparation of notarial documents, wills, officially certified facts, declarations, statements, legalised (authenticated) company and private signatures, notaries issued extracts and copies of documents (e.g. from mortgages), took money and securities into deposit and prepared the so-called protests of promissory notes.
