The clients of notary public Julian Gutowski were mainly Krakow Jews and Jews from the surrounding communes and villages. Most Jewish-related records date back to the 1880s and 1890. Contracts for the lease of alcohol production and sale [propination] concluded by Jewish taverns with the Propination Fund Directorate and the Treasury Directorate, showing the involvement of Jews in the industry related to the production and sale of alcohol and sale seem particularly interesting.

From 1861 to 1865 he was a member of the Austrian State Council. He ran his notary office in Krakow at 67 Grodzka St. and 4 Gołębia St. in 1873-1890. His notarial work was based on the Austrian notary act of 25 July 1871. According to this legislation, he was required to prepare various documents in the form of notary deeds, including writing family law contracts, i.e. pre-nuptial contracts, in particular the granting of lifelong stipends, receipt of dowry, recognition of debt between spouses and contracts concluded between spouses such as loans, purchases and exchanges.
