- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Jews' Hospital was founded in 1807 at Mile End and was moved to Norwood in 1863. The Jews' Orphan Asylum was founded at Tenter Ground, Goodman's Fields, in 1831. The two institutions amalgamated in 1876 as the Jews' Hospital and Orphan Asylum, later known as the Norwood Jewish Children's Society and commonly known as ‘Norwood’.
