- Administrative/biographical history:
- Gladys Helen Rachel Montagu, Baroness Swaythling, was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, in 1879, the eldest daughter of Colonel Albert Edward Williamson Goldsmid, MVO, and Ida Stewart Beauclerk Hendricks. In 1898 she married Louis Montagu, who in 1911 succeeded as second Baron Swaythling. Lady Swaythling died in 1965.
