- Administrative/biographical history:
- John M. Machover, born 1880 in Mogilev, Russia, was a Zionist leader and lawyer. He came to London in 1920. He was a member of the World Union of Zionist Revisionists (part of the World Zionist Organisation) and subsequently of the Jewish State Party, becoming a member of its World Executive and chair of the party in Great Britain. He was also a member of the Board of Deputies of British Jews and Vice Chairman of the Federation of Jewish Relief Organisations. His publications include ‘Governing Palestine: The Case Against a Parliament’ (London, 1936) and ‘Jewish State or Ghetto: Dangers of Palestine Partition: Royal Commission’s Proposals Examined’ (London, 1937).
