- This collection includes minutes, rules and regulations, annual reports and accounts, orders of service, meeting minutes, fund reports, list of Hebrew school pupils, ledgers, annual balance sheets, timetables of services, survey reports, correspondence, photographs, register of births, marriage register, index of marriages, financial statements and Directors' reports.

- Administrative/biographical history:
- Sunderland's is the oldest Jewish community in the north east. The congregation, known originally as the Israelite Congregation or Adath Jeshurun, was officially founded in 1821. In 1862 a new synagogue was consecrated in Moor Street. The congregation moved to Ryhope Road in 1928. After a long decline in the community the synagogue finally closed in spring 2006.
