- Scope and content:
- This voluminous collection contains recordings of interviews conducted by researchers and collaborators of the CEGESOMA as well as a number of radio and television broadcasts. A transcription is available for many interviews. All interviews conducted by CEGESOMA personnel have been digitised. They relate to virtually all aspects of political, social, economic and daily life during the interwar years and the Second World War. We note for example many interviews of Jewish individuals, both well-known (Edith Buch, Yvonne Jospa, Regine Orfinger, Max Gottschalk, Dov Liebermann, Marc Schreiber, Maxime Steinberg etc.) and lesser known figures. Other interviews relevant for this guide concern i.a. testimonies about the concentration camps and killing centres such as Breendonk, Dora, Buchenwald; Jewish immigration in Belgium (see the interviews with Adolf Rosenberg and Paula Schumiliver); the communist party and its resistance movements (for Solidarité juive, see the interview with Icek Wolfman); Zionism, in particular Hashomer Hatzair Antwerp (see the interviews with David Donner); JASK Antwerp (see the interview with Aron Weisberg); Israel (see the interviews with Joshua Hass and Mandelbaum). The collection also includes other interviews and broadcasts related to our subject, i.a. an interview from Radio Judaïca, broadcasts of the RTBF concerning the Holocaust and Belgian and German antisemitism, a program of Europe no. 1 about the Jews in France during the Occupation and an interview of the same station with (French) Commissioner-General for the Jewish Question Louis Darquier de Pellepois.
