- This fonds contains press cuttings (copies and originals), correspondence (copies and originals), programs and posters of conferences to which Adolphe Nysenholc was invited as a speaker, invitations, scholarly articles written by Nysenholc, scientific files (i.a. on cinema) and an autobiography by A. Nysenholc.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Adolphe Nysenholc was born in Brussels in 1938. His parents, originating from Poland, were arrested, deported and murdered in Auschwitz. Adolphe Nysenholc was hidden during the war and placed in various orphanages of the AIVG after the Liberation. Having obtained a degree in Romance philology in 1966, he taught French at the Athénée Fernand Blum. In 1975, he defended his (unpublished) PhD thesis on the great artist Charles Chaplin and cinema. Nysenholc lectured in film analysis and film aesthetics at the ULB. He was the organiser of several scientific congresses and published many works, such as novels, essays, plays and memoirs.
