- Administrative/biographical history:
- Henri Matuzewitz, the son of Joseph (1893-1969) and Lucie (1897-1996) Matuzewitz, graduated from the École de Commerce of the ULB in 1939-1940. During the war he acquired the American nationality while serving in the American army. Henri Matuzewitz and Henri Mattis are the same person; his name change seems to date back to 1941. He regained the Belgian nationality after his return to Belgium after the war. He took Uruguayan nationality and married Renée Mattis in 1950; they had three children. An importer of leather goods, he joined the Banque Bruxelles Lambert in 1958. In 1962 he moved to Switzerland for professional reasons and stayed there. His parents had settled in Geneva in 1952.
