Scope and content:: This fonds contains 4 files concerning the relationship between the Comité de Défense des Juifs and the Association des Juifs en Belgique. We note i.a. reports (often with attachments) on the relation between the CDJ and AJB, about the arrest of Salomon Ullmann, on Germans who played a role in the Shoah in Belgium, Belgians who had helped Jews, the ‘Jewish question’ between 10 May 1940 and 21 December 1942, the criminal investigation of the AJB, etc.

Administrative/biographical history:: David Katz (1906-1985) was active in the resistance during the Occupation, in the Mouvement national belge (MNB) – i.a. in distributing clandestine newspapers and hiding French réfractaires. After the war he was involved in associations of former resistance members: Katz was the president of the Fédération nationale des anciens combattants et résistants armés juifs de Belgique (FNACRAJB) established in 1953, president of the fraternelle du MNB, treasurer of the Union internationale de la Résistance et de la Déportation and one of the leaders of the Voix internationale de la Résistance. He also was the president of the Fédération sioniste (1955-1965) and member of the board of the Chamber of Commerce Belgium-Luxembourg-Israel. (J.-P. Schreiber, “Katz, David dit Roger”, in J.-P.
