This fonds comprises three distinct series. The first series concerns the Kiel trial (and is currently located in Kazerne Dossin, in Mechelen); the second series contains the archives of the Union des Déportés Juifs (kept by the FMC-SEH); the third series consists of copies of (re)transcriptions of thirty interviews taken in the immediate post-war period made for the Wiener Library.
The first series relates to the Kiel trial – the trial against Ernst Ehlers, Konstantin Canaris, Kurt Asche and Karl Fielitz held in Kiel (Germany), of which the verdict was given in March 1977. This series contains the files related to the decisions of the trials and the civil parties, correspondence and documentation, cards related to the civil parties and other documents concerning the trial.
The second series, the archives of the Union des Déportés Juifs et Ayants Droit en Belgique (UDJADB), contains documents related to the Mémorial aux martyrs juifs de Belgique, the board of the UDJADB, correspondence of the UDJADB, bookkeeping documents, subject files related to the pilgrimage to Mechelen and to the International Auschwitz Committee; we also find various individual files concerning requests for compensation or proof of invalidity. Furthermore, we note a biographical text by Jean Bloch on Max Gottschalk, documents related to the Centrale, documents concerning the Maïmonide and Ganenou schools (notably concerning the acquisition of the land for the latter school in 1973), correspondence with COREF and various subject files concerning notably revisionism, the 3rd millenary of Jerusalem (1996), the Righteous Among the Nations, etc.
The third series consists of copies of some thirty interviews produced by Marc Goldberg for the Wiener Library and of correspondence related to these interviews (1956-1958); we also find a report on the administration of ‘Jewish assets’ by the Germans during the war, and a report on Jewish organisation during the Occupation.
