- This fonds contains identity papers, correspondence, concert programs, concert posters, photos, press clippings concerning Aleksander Frydland, his concerts, and the choir Nashir. (see boxes Y 36 and Y 37)
- Archival history:
- Many scores, concert posters and programs were donated to the Jewish Museum of Belgium by Ryta Dworecka, Frydland’s wife. They are inventoried in the collections of the Museum.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Aleksander Frydland was born in Warsaw in 1909. He graduated from the F. Chopin Musical school in Warsaw in 1938. He first married Ruta Starez; his second marriage was with Ryta Dworecka. This UN refugee of Polish origin migrated to Belgium after the war. He directed the grand choir of the Zionist Federation of Belgium (1951-1956), and later the choir Nashir, composed of professionals and amateurs. He was an active Zionist militant. He emigrated to Israel in 1962. Frydland, who was also a piano teacher, was an orchestra conductor in Russia and Jerusalem. He died in Brussels in 1997.
