- Administrative/biographical history:
- Arthur De Bruyne (1912-1992) was a Flemish nationalist journalist and publicist. He was a teacher at the Koninklijk Instituut voor Doofstommen en Spraakgebrekkigen in Antwerp (1931-1964) and later worked for Kerk in Nood/Oostpriesterhulp (1964-1981). De Bruyne was initially a member of Verdinaso (1932-1935), but as a Dietsnationalist he didn’t follow the more Belgian-oriented course of the party and became politically homeless. During the Occupation he would not collaborate, despite his affinity with the right wing of the Vlaams Nationaal Verbond. After the war De Bruyne was active in various associations, i.a. as vice president of the Beweging voor de Verenigde Staten van Europa, the Vlaams Natonale Debatclub, the Priester Daensfonds, etc. He was, from 1956 to the late 1980s, a regular contributor to the weekly ‘t Pallieterke and also wrote for other Flemish nationalist magazines such as Rommelpot, Opstanding and Wit en Zwart. De Bruyne is especially known for his journalistic and popular scientific articles and works on the recent history of the Flemish movement. He was, in 1984, one of the co-founders of the Archief-, Documentatie en Onderzoekscentrum voor het Vlaams-Nationalisme. He was member of its board, and the working group Oral History. (W.
