- This fonds notably contains photos, passports, identity papers and correspondence. (see box 190, and the pictures in the binder XXXII personnalités as well as binder XVI).
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Ludivit “Louis” Deak (1895-1958) was born in Kolozsvar (Hungary) in 1895. His wife, Ilona “Hélène” Kalmar was born in Becs (Hungary) in 1897. They married in Bratislava/Pressburg in 1922. Louis Deak had a degree in medicine, surgery, tropical medicine and childbirth. He practised medicine in the Congo from 1937 onwards, first as a physician for the Forminière company in the Kasai and then in Elisabethville (now Lubumbashi) from 1941 onwards. He obtained Belgian nationality in 1951. Hélène Kalmer was naturalised in 1952. Louis Deak died in Elisabethville in 1958.
