- This fonds contains personal documents, correspondence, documents concerning children’s homes and the children that lived there, photographs of children, a card index system of children in the AJB homes, correspondence exchanged as a result of the publication of the book Le récit de l’espoir. (see boxes 217-230).
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Marie Albert (1916-2001) was born in Anderlecht, Brussels in 1916. She was the secretary of the Société Israélite d’Assistance Antituberculeuse before the war, and during the war she looked after, under surveillance of the SS, the children cared for by the Association of the Jews in Belgium (AJB). She was the head of the children’s home of Ophem in Wezembeek-Ophem. In 1945 she married Alfred (‘Freddy’) Blum, who had been one of the leaders of the AJB.
