- Scope and content:
- This fonds mainly consists of correspondence, reports of activities, minutes of meetings, subject files concerning events organised by the Cercle Ben Gourion (CBG) and bookkeeping documents. Certain documents originate from Radio Judaica, such as minutes of meetings in which the broadcasts were discussed. The fonds also contains the monthly magazine published by the CBG, CBG-Info and Contact J. Furthermore, we note a collection of 45 and 78 rpm records, used by Radio Judaica. (Note that this description was made on the occasion of a visit to the offices of the CBG (2012), before the archives were donated to the Jewish Museum of Belgium. It is therefore possible that not all of the material mentioned above was retained.)
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Cercle Ben Gourion was founded by Aryeh Renous, Henri Mordenfeld and Julien Rybski in 1977. Aryeh Renous was its president for almost three decades. The Cercle Ben Gourion created a community centre (foyer) in 1978. Publication of its monthly CBG-Info dates from the same year; the name of this periodical was changed to Contact-J in 1986, and it is still published today. The CBG also houses Radio Judaïca, the only Jewish radio station in Belgium, created in 1980. This Zionist association is to be situated on the right of the political spectrum.
