The collection is divided into two sections: administration and police (1844 units in total) and municipal affairs (6,164 units).
The municipal affairs records include a general subsection of municipal issues within the kingdom and files of towns or cities in the governorates of Warsaw, Radom, Lublin, Płock, and Augustów. The records of the City of Warsaw form a separate group. Within the records for each governorate, acta generalia can be found along with files for each town and city. The City of Warsaw dossier is categorised into units comprising documents related to the factual/subject entries and arranged in alphabetical order.
The administration and police section includes a series of annual reports; reports on economic, business, administrative and social and public affairs; materials related to migrations; records and evidence, civil rights, crimes and offences, proprietary rights and entitlements; and schools and the education system.
The fund consists of 248 units, all of which are related to Jewish affairs; these include:

- Of the commission’s archive, general administration section, a portion of the records of the administration and police department has survived (1,844 units in total), plus the complete municipal affairs section (6,164 units). Numerous plans and drawings have been separated from the fund, mainly architectural and town planning; these are kept today at the Cartography Collection of the AGAD.

- Established in 1815, the commission was reorganised many times and renamed the Government Commission of Internal Affairs and the Police (1815-31); Government Commission for Internal, Clerical and Public Enlightenment Affairs (1832-9); Government Commission for Internal and Clerical Affairs (1839-61), Government Commission for Internal Affairs (1861-4); Government Commission for Internal and Clerical Affairs (1864-7); and Government Commission of Internal Affairs (1867-8). The body was the highest public administration authority until it was wound up in 1868.
