The archival collection of the Municipal Board/Municipal National Council of Dzierżoniów is small and contains a few Jewish-related items. The Municipal Board files correspond with the respective sections: Organisation, 1945–50 (file nos. 1–7); Administration, 1945–9 (file nos. 8–15), Finance, 1947–50 (file no. 16–34), Taxation, 1948–9 (file no. 35–36), Provisioning and Trade, 1945–8 (file no. 37–38), Social-Political, 1946 (file nos. 39-40); Social Care Department, 1947–8 (file no. 41); Reconstruction Department, 1948–9 (file no. 42); Municipal Real Property Department, 1949 (file no. 43); Motor Vehicles Department, 1949 (file no. 44). The Municipal National Council resource includes the sections of: General Administration, 1946–50 (file nos. 1–9), Finance, 1946–50 (file nos. 10–22), Municipal Services and Housing Management, 1949 (file no. 23); Culture, 1948–9 (file no. 24); Agriculture and Forestry, 1947–9 (file no. 25–27).

- The Municipal Board/Municipal National Council of Dzierżoniów collection contains units related to the functioning of the city. The files, produced by the respective departments, are presently stored at the Kamieniec-Ząbkowicki branch of the State Archive in Wroclaw.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Municipal Board and Municipal National Council of Dzierżoniów were referred to as first-grade local government units, operating in 1944–50 and from 1950 onwards respectively. The legal framework behind them consisted of: the Law ‘on the organisation and scope of operations of National Councils’, 1944; the Polish Committee of National Liberation’s decree ‘on the organisation and scope of operations of the regional and local authorities’, 1944; a 1945 decree ‘on the administration of the Recovered Territories’; and the Homogeneous State Authority Act, 1950. Characteristic of the initial period was cooperation and interaction between National Councils and the general administration system formed of starosties, district departments, and municipal/communal boards. The second stage saw the development of National Councils as local authorities within the ‘homogeneous State authority’.
