- Archival history:
- The collection of the Presidium of the District National Council in Dzierżoniów comprises records related to the functioning of the District (Poviat) of Dzierżoniów. The files, once gathered by various departments, are presently stored at the Kamieniec-Ząbkowicki branch of the State Archive in Wroclaw.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The District National Council and its Presidium in Dzierżoniów were established under the Field Authorities of Homogeneous State Authority Act of 1950. The body functioned until new State administration bodies, the Head of the District and the Office of the District, were set up in 1973. Soon afterwards, in 1975, a two-degree administrative structure was launched in Poland, with the basic-level administration (city president [mayor], head of city, head of city district, head of commune/municipality, city and commune head) and voivodeship-level administration (voivode [province governor]). Poviats were dismissed as part of the reform.
