The collection consists of documents accumulated by the Registry Office for Dzierżoniów (then, Reichenbach im Eulengebirge) and Ernsdorf – the latter being a locality that was finally incorporated into the city of Reichenbach. For both localities, there are Registries of births (1874–1912), marriages (1874–1880; 1883–1912) and deaths (1874–1912). There is a collective dossier for marriages as for 1899 to 1910. The files are found incomplete. The materials included by the clerks in the records specify personal details: first name and surname, address, profession, date and place of birth, religion, reporting person, parents, best men and bridesmaids/matrons-of-honour (for marriages), causes of death. In some cases, annotations are made in the birth certificate specifying the date of death and/or reference to a corresponding record in another register for persons of Jewish background (notes of the names Sara or Israel given, after 1938).
Jewish-related items are scattered and appear in some of the registers. Examples include:

- Archival history:
- The documents in the collection were produced and accumulated by the Registry Office clerks. After World War 2, the files were kept at the Registry Office of Dzierżoniów, observing the rules of archival care; once aged one hundred years, each item was systematically transferred to the State Archive in Wroclaw.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- Registry offices (Standesamt) were established in Prussia based on a 1874 law and started operating in the same year, with their functions taken over from Catholic and Evangelical parish offices as well as from courts of law (in case of other religions). In lieu of former parish registers, records of births, marriages and deaths were introduced. The area covered by a Standesamt was called ‘registry office district’ (Standesamtsbezirk). The formation of such districts and the manning of their offices was responsibility of the administrative authority, as was supervision of the Standesamt operations.
