- This fonds comprises the records of the Sighet branch of the National Agricultural Credit Institution, a bank with its headquarters in Bucharest, from 1947 to 1948. It contains registers of records concerning the correspondence of the Sighet branch of the bank with its clients, business partners and headquarters. It also includes registers of operations of the bank relating to deposits, credits and investments, especially in the field of agriculture. Among the clients and partners appear Jewish landowners and Jewish firms from Maramureş county and from neighbouring counties (Satu Mare, Bihor).
- Archival history:
- The material of this fonds was preserved by the State Bank of Baia Mare before it was transferred to the State Archives of Baia Mare in 1965. It was inventoried and is now held at the Maramureş County division of the Romanian National Archives.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The National Agricultural Credit Institution of Bucharest opened its branch in Sighet on 1 February 1947, with the aim to finance the agricultural enterprises and landowners in Maramureş county. It was nationalised in June 1948 when all industrial, commercial and bank enterprises in Romania were taken over by the state and put under the supervision of the National Bank of Romania which under the Communist regime controlled all banking activities in the country.
