- Scope and content:
- This fonds comprises the records of the Greek-Orthodox parish of Vima Mică, most of which refer to the construction of the local church. Initially the service took place in a wooden church which was destroyed by fire in 1880. For a period of time religious activity then took place in the local wooden church of the Greek-Catholics, who started the construction of a new wall church which was finished in 1902. The Greek-Orthodox community finished theirs in 1905, with a tower 16m high. Other records are connected with the administration of the revenues of the parish, the activity of the local school and its teachers. Most of the documents are marriage certificates issued by the parish. There is one file with a specific Jewish reference, namely file no. 7 from 1876, which deals with the trial involving the local school teacher and the Jew Izsak Berger regarding a piece of land which constituted the guarantee for a loan accorded to the teacher.
- Archival history:
- The fonds was transferred in 1970 to the State Archives of Baia Mare and is now held by the Maramureş County division of the Romanian National Archives.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Greek Orthodox parish of Vima Mică was subordinated to the archbishopric of Transylvania founded in 1864 by the archbishop Andrei Şaguna. The Greek-Orthodox bishopric of Maramureş and Satu Mare was established only after the fall of Communism in 1990.
