- Archival history:
- The fonds was transferred to the Harghita County division of the Romanian National Archives in 1965 and 1981, where it was inventoried and made available to researchers.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The elementary school of Lăzarea was founded as confessional Roman Catholic school in connection with the local Roman Catholic monastery which existed since the 17th century. From 1860 the school was situated in three buildings built with the support of the Roman Catholic church. Until the First World War the language of instruction was Hungarian. After 1919 the school was reorganised according to the Romanian system of education, i.e. a Romanian-language state school was introduced alongside the confessional school which continued in Hungarian. In 1940 the Hungarian teaching system and language were restored, which lasted until the end of the Second World War when the inter-war system was reintroduced. In 1948 the Communist reform of education put an end to the existence of confessional schooling and the elementary school in Lăzarea became a state school.
