- Scope and content:
- The fonds contains documents of the Roman Catholic parish of Şimleu Silvaniei from 1630 to 1950, the earliest having been sent in 1630 by Caterina of Brandenburg, Princess of Transylvania and widow of Prince Gabriel Bethlen. There is also a document of ennoblement signed by Prince Michael Apafi of Transylvania in 1666, ecclesiastical letters, statistics about parishioners, information about priests in the parish and schools patronised by the parish. Documents of Jewish relevance concern the 1766 interdiction against baptising Jewish children (file 31), conversions from 1777–1921 (files 71 and 586) and the presence of Jewish pupils in Catholic schools.

- The fonds was transferred to the Romanian National Archives, Directorate of Sălaj County, where it was inventoried.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The Roman Catholic parish of Şimleul Silvaniei is mentioned as early as the 16th century. Its first church was built in 1533, destroyed by the Tartars in 1600 and rebuilt in the mid-17th century with the support of the wife of Prince Gheorghe Rakoczi II. A tower was added in In 1780 and in 1847 the church was reconstructed and extended. Şimleu-Silvaniei parish was subordinated to the Bishopric of Oradea and had an administrative structure including a parish council, a general assembly comprising heads of each family in the parish, a school committee and a church committee, which were elected every three years.
