- Scope and content:
- The fonds contains records of cases judged by Caraş County Court and gives information about the economic, social, political and cultural life of the county. Many cases concern banks and other commercial organisations. The court also ruled on mining rights, labour disputes, guardianship cases and authorisation of cultural and social associations. Jewish-related material includes cases of Jewish firms and individuals (files 20/1876; 3/1890; 8/1890; 1/1918), expropriation of Jewish properties in the Holocaust period (9/1941; 10/1943) and restitution of Jewish property after 1945 (29/1945).

- Administrative/biographical history:
- Caraş County Court was founded in accordance with Austro-Hungarian legislation. After the First World War, its structure and activities were regulated in accordance with the Romanian legal system, and it was given authority over local courts and served as their court of appeal. It was abolished in 1952 in the communist reorganisation of the judicial system.
