- The fonds contains school catalogues, records of meetings, correspondence with the county school inspectorate, circulars, registers and enrolment records, from 1944–60. The school had separate sections for Hungarian and Romanian teaching. From 1919–21 it had a section for Jewish apprentices (registers 47 and 53). Lists of pupils give name, date and place of birth, religion, nationality, residence, name and profession of parents, languages spoken, grades and exam results by subject. The records refer to several Jewish pupils.
- Archival history:
- The fonds was in the custody of the Grigore Silaşi general school in Beclean and transferred in 1989 to the Romanian National Archives, Directorate of Bistriţa-Năsăud County.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The state primary school was founded in Beclean in 1870 in accordance with the Hungarian law of education. It became a Romanian-language state primary educational institution under the 1924 Romanian education law. In 1939, a new law made seven years of primary education compulsory and free. From 1940–44 the Hungarian educational system was reintroduced, and in 1948 education in Romania was reformed again under the communists.
