- The fonds contains documents concerning the organisation and activity of the mayor’s office in Sângeorz-Băi which include: correspondence with other institutions and private persons, orders and circular letters of superior authorities referring to administrative, economic, social, agricultural and financial issues, records of the meetings of the communal council and its decisions, personal files, inventory of the communal goods and properties, territorial systematisation, budget sheets of income and expenditure, vital records registers from 1942 to 1949, pay rolls and document registers. It also contains a summary of the cadastral register from 1913, which includes the names of owners (including Jews), their houses, fields, orchards, vineyards, hayfields, woods, their incomes and taxes paid (File 2/1913).

- The fonds was in the custody of the local council Sângeorz-Băi until 1983 when it was transferred to the Romanian National Archives, Directorate of Bistriţa-Năsăud County.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The mayor’s office of Sângeorz-Băi was established in 1849. From 1851 to 1876 it was the seat of one of the component entities of the autonomous Năsăud district. In 1876 it became part of the newly organised Bistriţa-Năsăud county, included in the district of Rodna. By the Romanian administrative law of 1925 Sângeorz-Băi became part of Năsăud county. From 1940 to 1944 the Hungarian administrative system was reintroduced, while after the Second World War Sângeorz-Băi was again included in Rodna district. In 1950 it became part of the district of Năsăud and in 1956 included the neighbouring villages Cormaia and Valea Borcutului.
