Most of the material dates from 1945 to 1949, while the vital records registers begin in the year 1870. A census of the population is preserved from 1901 when 221 of the total number of inhabitants of 7,500 were Jewish. The records from after the Second World War include information about war invalids, orphans and widows, the agrarian reform of 1945 and the changing number of inhabitants.
- Archival history:
- The fonds was in the custody of the local council of Teaca. It was transferred in 1983 to the Romanian National Archives, Directorate of Bistriţa-Năsăud County.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The mayor’s office of Teaca was established in 1849. From 1851 to 1876 it was the seat of one of the component entities of Bistriţa district. In 1876 it became part of the newly organised Bistriţa-Năsăud county – it was the seat of one of its districts and had a court, a notarial office and an office for the collection of taxes. By the Romanian administrative law of 1925 Teaca became part of Năsăud county, while in 1950 it was included in Mureş county, along with the neighbouring village of Pinticu. In 1960, two more villages were added to it, namely Doştina and Viile Tecii.
