- Archival history:
- After the Second World War the collection was in the custody of the county council of Bistriţa-Năsăud. It was transferred in two tranches, in 1957 and 1981, to the local branch of the National Archives. Inventories were created in 1966-1976 and 1985-1995, and it was microfilmed between 2000 and 2003. It is now held at the Romanian National Archives, Directorate of Bistriţa-Năsăud County.
- Administrative/biographical history:
- The frontier guard regiment Năsăud was established by the Austrian authorities in 1762 and it existed until 1851, when after the events of the 1848-49 revolution the Transylvanian frontier guard regiments were dissolved. Its properties were administrated in common and their revenues fed into a Central School and Scholarship Fund under the supervision of the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Education. This fund sustained the high school in Năsăud and rural schools of the area and offered scholarships for the descendants of the former frontier guard families. With the installation of the Communist regime these properties were taken over by the state and in 1957 all former institutions which administrated them were abolished.
